Cheesecake pops

5 May

You can make these pretty cheesecake pops with left-over cake. I made them with cheesecake. Scoop with a spoon some cheesecake and roll it to a ball with your hand.  You can decorate them anyway you want. Here are some ideas: cookie crumble, chocolate ganache, caramel brittle, etc.

Before dripping them in warm chocolate ganache you will need to put them in the freezer for half an hour though.

Kids love them!!

The Little Paris Kitchen

27 Mar

Yesterday I discovered a new BBC food program,  Cooking with Rachel Khoo in Paris. The recipes are simple but I enjoyed watching her and her French adventures.

I tune in every Tuesday for the hairy bikers, now I have something to look forward to on Mondays as well!

Thank you BBC for your great cooking shows… all you Belgian tv channels, please make something as good as this.

Happy birthday Kipling

22 Feb

Kipling celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Felixpakhuis in Antwerp, Belgium, together with customers, local celebrities and press!

What a party! Catering looked great too ;-)

Check the video

You need to be a big fan to love the classic travel bag or the classic wallet. I remember at home when I was young that we had many Kipling items. Great material, light to carry and reliable. But what I really like about Kipling is the way they managed to boost the brand with some new sparkling items.

de Meesterbakker of de bakstrijd?

31 Jan

Looking for that perfect swirl?

19 Oct

Yes, I have been looking for that perfect swirl! I’ve purchased over 10 piping tips already and I’ve tried every technique I could find. However the best result for me personally is with a closed star.

First of all you need to find out what kind off frosting you like. You can make simple buttercream frosting, ganache, italian meringue or cream cheese frosting. There are many recipes on the Internet. Now that you’ve got a great  frosting recipe you will need to get the tools and the technique! Aha, technique… that’s the hard part. I’ve selected some video’s that can help you on the way.

Closed star, classique swirl

I also like the more ‘nonchalant’ swirls like Hummingbirds does.

And for the experts there’s this tutorial. It looks easy right?

Just signed up as a Daring Baker… The Daring Kitchen is a group of cooks and bakers who virtually meet up once a month to try a new recipe. Somebody posts the new recipe and then all signed up cooks and bakers try it out. You need to share a picture of the result. I’ve never done this before but I’m definitely looking forward to my first dare!! Hope you are as well… :-)

This was September’s dare: French croissants!
